OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY Policy

Zed Logistics is committed to maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and welfare for all employees, contractors, customers and anyone affected by our operations. We recognise that effective health and safety management is integral to the success of our business and to the wellbeing of our people.

Our goal is to prevent work-related injuries, ill health and incidents by identifying hazards, assessing risks, and implementing appropriate controls in all areas of our logistics, transport, and delivery activities.


2. Scope

This policy applies to all personnel engaged by Zed Logistics, including:

  • Employees and volunteers
  • Contractors, sub-contractors and agency staff
  • Visitors and other stakeholders accessing company sites or vehicles



It covers all work activities under the control of Zed Logistics, whether at depots, on the road, at customer sites, or during delivery and collection activities.


3. Legal & Regulatory Compliance

Zed Logistics will comply with all applicable health and safety legislation, industry standards and statutory requirements, including those set by the UK Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and related regulations.

We will regularly review compliance requirements to ensure our systems, procedures and controls remain effective and up-to-date.


4. Responsibilities

Leadership & Management
Senior management at Zed Logistics is responsible for:

  • Providing leadership and resources necessary to implement this policy
  • Ensuring health and safety considerations are integrated into operational planning
  • Providing clear organisational responsibilities and accountability


Employees & Workers
All staff are expected to:

  • Take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others
  • Follow safe work procedures and use equipment correctly
  • Report hazards, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions promptly
  • Participate in training and safety improvement initiatives


5. Risk Management

We will:

  • Identify hazards through regular inspections and risk assessments
  • Evaluate and prioritise risks affecting people, vehicles, equipment and work activities
  • Implement preventative and protective measures to eliminate or reduce risks
  • Monitor and review controls to ensure ongoing effectiveness


6. Training & Communication

Zed Logistics will provide appropriate information, instruction, supervision, and training to ensure:

  • Individuals understand their health and safety responsibilities
  • Staff are competent to carry out their roles safely
  • Clear communication channels exist for safety guidance and feedback


Safety notices, toolbox talks, safety manuals and digital communication will be used to keep all personnel informed and engaged.


7. Safe Work Systems

We will establish and maintain documented procedures and controls for:

  • Vehicle operation, loading and unloading
  • Manual handling and transport movements
  • Workplace access and delivery site safety
  • Maintenance, inspection and control of equipment and fleet vehicles


Emergency planning, first aid, fire safety and incident response procedures will also be defined and communicated to all affected personnel.


8. Incident Reporting & Investigation

All accidents, injuries, near misses and unsafe conditions must be reported immediately through the company’s incident reporting system. Investigations will be conducted to:

  • Identify root causes
  • Prevent recurrence
  • Improve safety controls and work practices


Corrective actions will be tracked and communicated to relevant parties.


9. Monitoring & Review

Zed Logistics will regularly monitor health and safety performance through:

  • Workplace inspections
  • Safety audits and reviews
  • Feedback from employees and contractors


This policy will be reviewed at least annually, and more frequently if required by changes in legislation, operations, or organisational structure.
